This page explains, in plain words, what happens to your information when you use YouTube Downloader Online. The short version: we collect very little, and we keep even less.
Overview
YouTube Downloader Online is a free tool that lets you paste a YouTube link and save the video as an MP4 or the audio as an MP3. We built it to be simple, and we wanted our privacy approach to be just as simple.
There is no account to create and nothing to install. You can use the site without telling us who you are. This policy covers the site itself, including the downloader, the YouTube to MP3 and YouTube to MP4 pages, and the contact form. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.
What We Do Not Collect
A lot of privacy policies list everything a site gathers. Ours is easier to start with the things we don't do.
- No accounts: we never ask for your name, email address or a password to use the downloader.
- No files kept: the site hosts no videos or audio. When you tap a quality, the file comes straight from YouTube's video servers to your browser.
- No download history: we don't keep a record of which videos you looked up or saved.
- No payment details: the tool is free, so there is nothing to pay and no card information to handle.
The Video Link You Paste
When you paste a YouTube link and tap the button, that link is sent so the tool can look up the video live and show you its title, length and the available qualities. That is the only reason we use it.
The link is used once, for that one lookup, and then it's gone. We don't save it, we don't build a list of the videos people search for, and we don't connect it to you. The video details and download links are fetched fresh each time and are never stored on our side.
Information Collected Automatically
Like almost every website, ours runs on a hosting provider. We use Cloudflare for hosting and security. When your browser connects to the site, Cloudflare records standard technical information as part of normal web traffic.
- Your IP address
- Your browser type and version, and basic device information
- The date and time of your visit
Google Analytics and Cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand, in general terms, how people use the site. It tells us things like how many visits we get, which pages are popular and roughly what kinds of devices people use. These statistics are anonymous and grouped together; we don't use them to identify you personally.
Google Analytics works by placing small text files called cookies in your browser. You're free to say no. Most browsers let you block cookies, delete the ones already saved, or get a warning before a site sets one. You'll usually find these options in your browser's settings under privacy or site data.
Google also offers a free browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits across websites. You can find it by searching for the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking or deleting cookies won't stop the downloader from working.
Messages Sent Through the Contact Form
If you write to us through the Contact page, we'll receive whatever you choose to include, such as your name, your email address and your message. We use that information only to read your message and reply to you.
We don't add you to a mailing list, we don't send you marketing, and we don't sell or share your message with anyone. If you'd like a past conversation deleted, just ask.
Third-Party Services
A few outside services play a part in how the site works. Each one has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to read them if you want the full picture.
- YouTube and Google: the videos and audio you save come from YouTube. When a file opens in your browser, it loads directly from YouTube's servers, so Google may receive standard technical information from that request.
- Cloudflare: hosts the site and protects it from attacks and abuse, which involves handling basic connection data.
- Google Analytics: provides the anonymous visit statistics described above.
Children
YouTube Downloader Online is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal details through the contact form, please let us know through the Contact page and we'll delete them.
Data Security
Because we keep so little, there's not much that could ever go wrong. We don't store files, links or download history, so there's no collection of that kind to protect in the first place.
For what we do handle, such as contact form messages, we take reasonable steps to keep it safe, and the site's connection is protected by Cloudflare's security tools. That said, no website or internet connection can be made perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute protection.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. We're happy to help with any of these, wherever you are.
- Access: ask what personal information we hold about you, if any.
- Correction: ask us to fix information that is wrong or out of date.
- Deletion: ask us to remove your information, such as a message you sent us.
- Objection: tell us you don't want your information used in a certain way.
How to Use Your Rights
To make a request, send us a message through the Contact page and tell us what you'd like us to do. We'll reply as soon as we reasonably can. Keep in mind that since we don't link links, visits or downloads to individual people, there's often nothing about you on our side beyond a message you've sent.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a feature or change one of the services we use. When we do, we'll post the new version on this page. It's a good idea to glance at it now and then, and if a change matters to you, you're always welcome to ask us about it.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, just reach out through our Contact page and we'll be glad to help.
