How to use the YouTube downloader

It takes three quick steps using the box at the top of this page.

  1. Copy the video link

In the YouTube app tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar. Shorts and YouTube Music links are fine too.

  2. Paste it and tap the button

Drop the link into the box and tap the button. In a moment you'll see the video's title, its length and a list of MP4 and MP3 qualities.

  3. Pick a quality and save it

Tap the one you want and the file opens in a new tab. If it starts playing, use the browser menu (three dots, then Download) or long-press and choose Download or Save. On a computer, right-click and pick "Save video as".

Why use an online YouTube downloader?

You know that moment when a friend asks, "Wait, can you send me that video?" This youtube downloader is built for exactly that. Paste the link into the box above, choose a quality, and the video or song is yours to keep, watch on a flight, or pass along to whoever needs to see it.

There's nothing to install. No app store detour, no browser extension asking for permission to read every page you visit, and no account to create. It all happens right here in your browser, so it works the same way on an Android phone, an iPhone or iPad, a Windows laptop, a Mac, a Linux machine or a Chromebook.

That also means your phone stays uncluttered. You open the page when you need it and close it when you're done. One small tip: if you landed here from inside Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, open the page in Chrome or Safari instead, because those built-in browsers sometimes block downloads.

What people save to watch later and share

Everyone has their own reasons, but these come up again and again.

  • A clip to show your friends

That hilarious moment you keep describing badly over dinner? Save it once and just hit play the next time you're all together, no Wi-Fi hunting required.

  • Music for the road trip

Grab a few favorite tracks as MP3 before you leave, so the playlist keeps going even when the signal drops somewhere between towns.

  • A lesson for later

Cooking tutorials, guitar lessons, a lecture you only half caught. Keep them on your device and pause, rewind and rewatch at your own pace.

  • A family video

A birthday message, a wedding speech or a channel full of home videos you uploaded years ago. Save a copy so Grandma can watch it on her tablet anytime.

What you get with this YouTube downloader

After you paste a link, the tool looks the video up live and shows its title, length and every quality you can pick from.

  • MP4 video from 144p to 1080p

Choose 144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p or 1080p Full HD. Lower settings make small files that are easy to text or store on a full phone, while 720p and 1080p look sharp on a laptop or TV. The top option is 1080p.

  • Sound included in every video

Each MP4 quality comes with audio, so you won't end up with a silent clip no matter which resolution you tap.

  • MP3 audio in five bitrates

Pick 320, 256, 192, 128 or 64 kbps. Higher numbers keep more detail for music on good headphones; lower ones save space for podcasts, talks and audiobooks.

  • File size before you save

Every video quality shows its size up front, so you can tell at a glance whether it's a small, medium or large file before it lands on your device.

  • Long videos welcome

Full concerts, hour-long tutorials and lengthy vlogs work too. There's no length or size limit to keep track of.

Normal watch links, youtu.be short links, Shorts, mobile links and YouTube Music links all work in the box.

Nothing is stored, ever

When you paste a link, the video details and download links are fetched live, just for you, and never saved. We don't host any files, and there's no download history tied to you or anyone else.

The file you pick comes straight from YouTube's own video servers and opens in a new tab, so it goes directly to your browser without passing through a storage server of ours.

YouTube downloader FAQ

Is this YouTube downloader really free?

Yes. You can save as many videos and songs as you like without paying, signing up or handing over an email. Just paste a link and go.

Does it work on iPhone and iPad?

It does. Open the page in Safari or Chrome, paste your link and tap a quality. If the video starts playing instead of downloading, tap the share or menu option and choose to save it, or long-press the video and pick Download. Saved files usually show up in the Files app under Downloads.

Where do my downloaded files end up?

Wherever your browser normally saves downloads. On Android that's typically the Downloads folder, on iPhone and iPad it's the Files app, and on Windows, Mac or Linux it's your Downloads folder unless you've chosen somewhere else.

Which video quality should I choose?

It depends on where you'll watch. 360p or 480p is plenty for a quick clip sent over a messaging app, 720p looks good on most phones and tablets, and 1080p is the one to pick for a laptop or TV screen. Check the file size next to each option if storage is tight.

Can I download Shorts?

Yes. Copy the Short's link from the share button and paste it into the box like any other video. You'll get the same MP4 and MP3 choices.

Why isn't a video working?

Some videos can't be saved: private, age-restricted, members-only, removed or region-blocked ones may fail, and live streams that are still running won't work. If you pasted a playlist link, only the single video in that link is saved. Also try opening the page in Chrome or Safari if you're inside a social media app.

Can I save a long video, like a full concert?

Sure. Long videos work and there's no length or size cap. Just keep in mind that a long video at 1080p makes a large file, so a lower quality or an MP3 may suit you better if space is limited.

Is it okay to download any YouTube video?

Not always. Only save videos you own, ones in the public domain or under a licence that allows it, or ones you have permission to download, and keep them for personal use. This site isn't affiliated with YouTube or Google.
